We need each other as we walk to hear the fears that grip our nights, to borrow faith when ours is weak. We need a place to say, “I hurt,” and savor the reply, “I’m here.” We need a hand upon the shoulder that will say—no words at all— “You’re safe with me. You’re not alone.” We need the honest laughter that will share a story we would never share in crowds. We need the friend who knows the gospel well enough to call us to repentance and remind us of God’s grace. It was a mercy that the Lord sent out disciples two-by-two, for we are strengthened, held, encouraged—shaped—by those who share the journey with us. So walk in grace.
