Ng Elected Chair of White Estate Board of Trustees

Dr. G.T. Ng, executive secretary of the General Conference
of Seventh-day Adventists, was recently elected chair of the Ellen G. White
Estate Board of Trustees. The twelfth person to hold the position since Ellen
White named five trustees to oversee her literary estate starting at the time
of her death in 1915, Dr. Ng follows Elder Don Schneider, who retired from the
position at the end of 2013. Dr. Ng, the
first person from Asia to chair the board, has a wide range of experience as a
pastor and as a conference administrator on various levels of church
organization, besides serving as a university professor and as dean of the
denomination’s seminary in the Philippines.
In 2010 he was elected to his current General Conference position.

James Nix, director of the White Estate, is especially
pleased that Dr. Ng has accepted the Board’s invitation to become its
chair. According to Nix, “The new chair
brings to the position a passion for mission and a deep love for Ellen
White.” Trying to work with the White
Estate staff to find more effective ways to promote the writings of Ellen White
worldwide is something that Dr. Ng indicates will be one of his top priorities
in this new position. “GT,” as Dr. Ng is
widely known to his friends and colleagues, is highly respected by church
leaders from around the world as well as others who know him. The White Estate Board and office staff
warmly welcome Dr. Ng and his wife, Ivy, who works for the Hope Channel. The couple has two married children and two
grandchildren.
