AdventHealth made a transformative contribution of US$300,000 to Kendu Adventist Hospital (KAH), funding the purchase of a critical CT scan to enhance diagnostic services. The donation was presented by Dave Kennedy, vice president of AdventHealth, to Samuel Misiani, chair of the KAH board, and KAH CEO Philip Gai. The ceremony took place during a precentennial celebration of the Seventh-day Adventist health-care institution, located in Kendu Bay, Kenya, thus marking nearly a century of the hospital’s service to the community.
The event marked a significant milestone as KAH prepares to celebrate its 100th anniversary in May 2025. Founded by missionaries, the hospital has long been a beacon of hope, providing medical care to thousands in the region. The generous donation further reinforced AdventHealth’s commitment to supporting health-care initiatives in Kenya.

Misiani expressed deep gratitude for the support, emphasizing how the CT scan would transform patient care. He acknowledged AdventHealth’s generosity, stating that the donation would significantly improve diagnostic accuracy and patient outcomes.
In addition, the area member of parliament, West Kenya Union Conference leaders, and conference and field leaders contributed significantly to advancing the hospital’s mission, leaders said.
The announcement coincided with the conclusion of AdventHealth’s free medical camp, held February 18-21. The initiative provided care for more than 2,000 patients, with 60 successful performed surgeries. Additionally, 100 cataract surgeries were completed as part of a new eye clinic collaboration between KAH and Tenwek Hospital.

This marked the second year of partnership between KAH and AdventHealth. “As part of this collaboration, a team of health-care professionals from the United States traveled to Kenya to work alongside KAH staff, offering community health services and surgical procedures,” Kennedy said.
Gai confirmed that the partnership had been formalized through a contract, ensuring that AdventHealth teams would return annually to support medical services at the hospital. He also noted that this year’s efforts had expanded to include an eye clinic, further broadening the scope of care provided to the community.
With KAH’s 100-year milestone approaching, the precentennial celebration highlighted its enduring commitment to healing and service, regional leaders emphasized. “Over the past century the hospital has become a pillar of medical care, serving thousands of patients with compassionate treatment and unwavering dedication. As KAH enters its second century, the strengthened partnership with AdventHealth promises even greater advancements in health care, ensuring that more lives will be transformed through improved services and global collaboration,” they said.
