Two new union presidents were among a number of leadership appointments made during the Division Executive Committee (DEC) meetings held at the South Pacific Division (SPD) headquarters in Wahroonga, Sydney, Australia.

Charley Jimmy, president of the Vanuatu Mission, has been appointed president of the Trans Pacific Union Mission. He replaces Maveni Kaufononga, who was elected as SPD vice president during the General Conference Session held in St. Louis, Missouri, United States, in July. At the Papua New Guinea Union Mission, Danny Philip has been appointed president, replacing Malachi Yani. Philip has been serving as SPD discipleship strategy leader since 2021.

Quinquennial appointments for the Australian Union Conference and the New Zealand Pacific Union Conference will be voted at their sessions in the coming weeks.

Hensley Moorooven, General Conference undersecretary, who serves as liaison officer to the SPD, was a special guest at the session. Kaufononga and David Potter, newly appointed SPD associate secretary, were also acknowledged. The Division Executive Committee, comprising members from across the South Pacific, also voted through a number of other key leadership appointments that will help shape the mission of the Adventist Church in SPD during the next quinquennium.
