Official Notice

Cindy J. Hill

The Seventh-day Adventist Church has more than 10,000 schools, colleges, and universities around the world. Each entity is administered by one of the levels of the church. The General Conference level directly administers four educational entities: Adventist International Institute of Advanced Studies (AIIAS), Adventist University of Africa (AUA), Andrews University (AU), and Loma Linda University (LLU).
Andrews University is organized as a corporation situated in Berrien Springs, Michigan, United States, and its bylaws stipulate that a regular meeting of its membership be held no later than 12 months “after the conclusion of the regular session of the General Conference of Seventh-day Adventists.” More commonly known as a constituency meeting, every five years members meet to receive reports on the status of the university, select Board of Trustees members, study any updates to its bylaws, and take any other actions as members deem necessary.
Members of this meeting include Executive Committee members of the General Conference who reside in the North American Division, executive officers of the world divisions, members of the Executive Committee of the Lake Union, 15 additional members chosen by the Lake Union, members of the Andrews University Board of Trustees, 35 members chosen by the alumni board of Andrews University, and 37 employees of Andrews University from a variety of subcategories.
Per the bylaws of Andrews University, the Lake Union Herald and the Adventist Review publish a notice of the meeting. Accordingly, page 7 of the February issue of the Adventist Review carries the notice that is reproduced below for the information of our online readership.
