ADRA Board to Weigh
Staff Change Effects

An April 6, 2011 board of directors meeting for the Adventist Development and Relief Agency (ADRA) in Silver Spring, Maryland, will consider the recent moves by agency leaders to cut costs by laying off 17 employees.
“Confronted by a decline in current and projected revenue from public sources, the ADRA International administrative committee has decided to reduce the workforce at its international headquarters by 20 percent and has undertaken corporate wide restructuring,” ADRA International president Rudi Maier wrote in a March 3 announcement that was subsequently removed from the aid agency’s website.
News of the changes has elicited questions among many of the group’s constituents. ADRA’s board of directors is expected to address those issues at the April 6 meeting. Until that time, ADRA’s board leaders are withholding public comment.
