Give & Take

If We Shall But Wait
If we shall but wait upon the Lord
within all our dire distress;
fear none, be still, hear His voice,
do not panic;
your faith is at a crucial test!
2010 1536 page13If we shall but wait upon the Lord
after having been down on bended knee;
have patience, His love will speedily
come when you need it; oh, yes,
the richness of His blessings you will see.
If we shall but wait upon the Lord
when our feeble minds ?are in anguish and pain;
Jesus Christ will gently bear you up
today, yesterday, forever;
Yes, He’s always the same.
If we shall but wait upon the Lord
until He rises from on high as that Day Star.
Our eternal salvation
Will then be here;
That diadem of glory, not far!

“The Saviour is by the side of His tempted and tried ones. With Him there can be no such thing as failure, loss, impossibility, or defeat.”
—Ellen G. White, from The Desire of Ages, p. 490

A little old woman, who late in life accepted Christ as her Savior, was always praising God in her “first love” and talking about her Savior. She couldn’t keep quiet.
One day a friend said, “You seem pretty confident about this Savior of yours! I wouldn’t be too sure about it—if I were you. Suppose the Lord should let you slip through His fingers, then what?”
“But,” said the old woman, “I am one of His fingers!”
She was perfectly right—she was indeed a member of Christ. It is written in the Scriptures: “For all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ” (Gal. 3:27). And the church is “His body” (Eph. 1:22, 23). It is all too wonderful for words. I, a poor sinner saved by grace, have been made a member of the Lord Jesus Christ Himself!
