Jan Paulsen Letter to President-Elect Obama

Dear President-Elect Obama:

I would like to express warm congratulations and best wishes to you on your historic election to the presidency of the United States of America.
As you take up the great responsibilities of this office, please know that the prayers of the worldwide Seventh-day Adventist Church—a community of some 25 million Christian believers in more than 200 countries—are with you. We pray that God will give you strength and wisdom to meet the unprecedented challenges of our time. As you chart a course for this nation, and confront matters with far-reaching significance for every nation, we pray that you will have a daily experience of God’s presence; that you and your family will know His “peace that passes all understanding”.
Your commitment to building a compassionate and just society is one that resonates with deeply held values of our church. We stand as ready partners in the shared goals of improving quality of life through education and health care; promoting service in the community; healing divisions; and, caring for society’s most vulnerable members.
May God bless you and keep you in the days and years ahead.
Jan Paulsen
